The County Office of Emergency Management developed an interactive web map for property owners to access damage assessment data for their homes and businesses at this link. CALFIRE Damage Inspection Teams, who compiled the data, have completed about 35 percent of their assessments for residential and commercial structures impacted by the Winter Storm Incident. The map will be updated daily as the team completes their assessments.
The interactive map indicates the status of each structure inspected and assigns a value to the structure as follows:
- Destroyed – the structure is a total loss
- Major Damage- Significant structural damages requiring longer than 30 days for repair
- Minor Damage – Damages may be repaired within 30 days
- Affected – Minimal damage to the dwelling and/or contents and are habitable, requiring minimal repairs.

County of Santa Barbara building officials, assisted by mutual aid building officials from other communities, will use this data to inspect each property for safety and to officially determine the habitability of each structure or business.
Thomas Fire and Storm Event Local Recovery and Assistance Center
On Wednesday, January 17, the County will open a Local Recovery and Assistance Center to serve as a centralized, single point location for essential resources and services to help community members recover and rebuild.
The Local Recovery and Assistance Center will initially be open January 17 to February 3, 2018 at Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara, 1 N Calle Cesar Chavez, Santa Barbara, 93103 during the following hours of 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday. The center will be closed on Sunday.
Representatives from various local, state and federal agencies will provide counseling support, resource and housing assistance, information to aid in rebuilding, permitting, hazardous materials clean-up, loss of business or employment, basic health and human services, and other topics.
The Family Assistance Center, located at 21 E. Constance Avenue, Santa Barbara, will continue to serve community members through Wednesday, January 17, when the Local Recovery and Assistance Center opens. This is very sad to see such widespread loss. Can someone start a post about the Sleaze ball Law firms that are already jumping at suing montecito water and socal edison before all the bodies are recovered let alone have they cleared the 101. There is no possible way that they have a case at this point yet they have no issue using our courts for their profit. FEMA, Flood insurance, Fire insurance, All sorts of places that an owner should have as resources in this. You don’t poop in your own water and this is basically what these idiots are doing. Just to note: Joseph Liebman and the firms Foley, Bezek, Behle & Curtis, LLP and Robertson & Associates, LLP are all garbage IMHO. Their clients are not any better. Hope they go broke trying to build a case that they should just take care of like human beings.
Agreed… shameful at this point. The attitude seems to be let the rest of the water district and SEC customers pay us and our attorneys.
