New Fire Station in Western Goleta

A Scoping Meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the Goleta City Hall Council Chambers to receive public comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Report for Fire Station 10, a new fire station in Western Goleta. The 30-day public comment period begins tomorrow, August 8.

This new fire station is needed in order to provide adequate fire protection services to the area, since fire service in Western Goleta no longer meets the National Fire Protection Association guidelines for emergency response time or population to firefighter ratio.

The new station will be approximately 11,600 square feet in size, with associated landscaping and appurtenant facilities on a City-owned parcel. It will be a three-bay, single-story building located at 7952 Hollister Avenue. Site improvements will include an emergency generator and an above-ground fueling facility. Significant site grading is anticipated.

Funding for this project is Fire Facility Development Impact Fees and other developer mitigation fees.
