New Films Added to Top Streaming List This Week

By TVJane

Two new films have been added to the Top 10 streaming list for this week, White Noise and The Menu, according to Reelgood.

Last week I wrote about Netflix’s film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and while it still tops the chart, more films are coming in strong.

White Noise, a Netflix film by Noah Baumbach, is adapted from Don DeLillo’s 1985 novel of the same name. Starring Baumbach’s muse and celebrated writer/director/actor in her own right, Greta Gerwig, Adam Driver, and Don Cheadle.

It focuses on professor Jack Gladney and his family’s comfortable suburban life that is upended when a nearby chemical leak causes “The Airborne Toxic Event,” releasing a noxious black cloud over the region that forces the Gladney family to evacuate. The reviews so are are… not good.

On the other hand, HBO Max’s film The Menu has much better reviews. It stars Ralph Fiennes as a famed chef offering a once-in-a-lifetime culinary experience on a private island for wealthy diners. Anna Taylor-Joy, from The Queen’s Gambit, is one of those diners who notices things aren’t as they seem.

It’s a delightful watch full of twists, turns, and dark comedy. While the film tends to beat you over the head with obvious social commentary on wealth and class status, it’s still worth the watch time.

Yellowstone and its prequel 1923 are still at the top of the carts giving a win to Paramount’s confusing free and not-free streaming platform, and Colin Farrell’s The Banshees of Inisherin reached the list at #10.

What I’m watching: Ziwe on Showtime, a quirky and satirical talkshow that puts celebrities, and those who think they are, in the hot seat.
