TYPE OF INCIDENT: Arrest for Narcotics Sales and Identify Theft
PLACE OF OCCURRENCE: 611 El Camino Real, Arroyo Grande
SUSPECT: 36-year-old Jeamy Beatriz Melendez, resident of Santa Ana, CA
On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the San Luis Obispo Police Department was called to the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo for multiple suspicious items that were located inside of a hotel room. Patrol officers responded and located a large quantity of methamphetamine, numerous checks, credit cards and identification cards believed to be stolen from multiple victims. The officers recovered the evidence and turned the investigation over to Special Enforcement Team detectives.
SET detectives followed up on suspect leads by reaching out to neighboring agencies for assistance with locating the suspect vehicle. An Arroyo Grande Police Department detective located the suspect vehicle at a hotel in the city of Arroyo Grande.
The suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Jeamy Melendez, was detained during a traffic stop as she was leaving the hotel. While being detained, she provided multiple identifications that did not belong to her and provided false information about her identity. Inside the vehicle, Melendez was found to be in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine, a large quantity of liquid phencyclidine (PCP), a substantial amount of cash in large denominations and numerous identification cards not belonging to her.
Melendez was arrested for the following charges and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail:
- H&S 11379(b) – Felony possession and transportation of narcotics across noncontiguous counties for the purpose of sales
- PC 530.5 – Felony identity theft
- PC 529(a)(3) – Felony false impersonation
- PC 476 – Felony check fraud
- PC 44e(c) – Misdemeanor theft of credit cards
Melendez is in custody with bail set at $200,000.
