Several cars were broken into Tuesday night around 6:30 pm while the owners were on the Santa Barbara Municipal Tennis Courts right before dark at 1414 Park Place, Santa Barbara, CA 93103.
The vehicles windows were smashed in and various items, including purses, laptops, clothing etc were stolen from the vehicles.
The police were called 4 times and did not respond.
“Police were called 4 times and did not respond.” Huh? Four times.
Called by whom? Called by people whose cars had been broken into? Or called by an Edhat Reader for comment on the story?
The former would be an egregious breach of public trust by SBPD, the latter would be little more than a whine.
This is why your English teachers warned you about writing passive sentences, and journalism teachers stress clarity and completeness.
It’s definitely confusing the way they wrote it.
What crime…?
The crime that is being reported every day here on Edhat, KEYT, etc. Are you not familiar with how to read articles?
Serious bummer to find your stuff stolen plus knowing there is a huge bill ahead to fix your car. They should watch Craigslist to see if the stolen laptop and other valuables are listed for sale.
That lot is used by tons of pickleball players at the other/far end of the courts. And the parking lot monitor who checks for permits is often gone that late in the day. Those burglaries are logged at the SBPD’s community crime map:

Given the player demographics, not surprising that lot would be a target.
Here’s a tip – leaving valuables like purses, wallets, and laptops in your car ANYWHERE is a foolish move. Asking for trouble. In that neighborhood?? Bad call. Don’t blame the cops.
BASIC – yeah, “don’t blame the cops” who did nothing after being called 4 times according to the OP, just blame the victims like you always do. Despicable.
For someone who is always so “tough on crime,” you sure love to give criminals a free pass.
Why do you support throwing money at cops even when some don’t do their job but you throw a tantrum about money being spent on highways, education, cleaning up State St., etc?
