Multi Agency Investigation Results in Arrests

(SANTA BARBARA, CA) Over the past several months, investigators with the Santa Barbara Police Department, working in conjunction with agents from both the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, conducted an investigation into county-wide criminal activity linked to the Santa Barbara Eastside Gang.  During this investigation, numerous ounces of cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as thousands of dollars in US currency, were seized as evidence.

As a result of this investigation, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, numerous search and arrest warrants were served in both Santa Barbara and Lompoc which resulted in five individuals being arrested on a combination of state and federal charges for narcotic distribution.

Sergio Diaz (36), a resident of Santa Barbara, has been indicted federally on Distribution of Cocaine.

Javier Zamudio (32), a resident of Santa Barbara, is charged locally with Sales of Cocaine and Participation in a Criminal Street Gang.

Adrian Alejandre (29), a resident of Santa Barbara, has been indicted federally on Distribution of Methamphetamine.

Dennis Cummings (22), a resident of Lompoc, has been indicted federally on Conspiracy and Distribution of Methamphetamine.

The Santa Barbara Police Department would like to thank the FBI and ATF for their assistance during this involved investigation.  These type of joint investigations continually aid in our efforts to protecting the community we serve.
