MTD Service Changes in Effect Monday

Santa Barbara MTD’s annual August service changes will go into effect at the beginning of the day on Monday, August 21, 2017.

These changes were developed through a yearlong planning process, assessing on-time performance, changing traffic pressures and patterns, and community outreach.

In order to address the realities of increased traffic congestion on the South Coast and to improve schedule adherence, schedule adjustments have been made on Lines 6, 11, 12x, 14, 15x, 20, 21x, 23, 24x and 25.

On weekday mornings, Lines 1 and 2 will now run every 15 minutes. Previously, MTD had received State of California cap and trade funds through the Low-Carbon Transportation Operations Program to increase frequency in this morning peak period to every 10 minutes. The funding from this grant ceased at the end of June 2017.

Minor routing changes have been made to the Lines 23 and 25 serving the El Encanto Heights and Ellwood/Winchester areas of the Western Goleta Valley, respectively. These routes will now better serve the neighborhoods in the area.

In accordance with a new 5-year contract with the City of Santa Barbara who funds the Downtown-Waterfront Shuttle service, the Downtown Shuttle serving State Street will begin service at 10am instead of 9am.

The new schedule guide reflecting these changes is available online and at the Transit Center

MTD encourages riders to double-check the schedule to see if their regular departure times have been altered. Customer Service Representatives are available for assistance at (805) 963-3366.
