Mountain Mist
Scroll through the above photos
By John Wiley
We used to be beach people, but our magnificent Front Range is giving us mountain mania. Thursday's show had a garland of low cloud accenting a line between mountains and hills. Hilltop details blended in and out of view. Closer to town the San Marcos Fooothills blushed yellow with mustard grass. Friday morning sun chased small plumes of mist from a strong blush of new green amid skeletons of burnt chaparral.

Apr 10, 2020 02:12 PMBeautiful photos, John. Thank you. A ride up #101 over Buellton through Solvang, past Lake Cachuma, back into Santa Barbara...yielded beautiful moments this morning, like your photos. Snow in distance on mountaintops also seen from Lake Cachuma area. Gorgeous. Needed so much after many days of being in the house...cooped up.

Apr 10, 2020 07:04 PMSo much for sheltering in place. Fortunately the great majority of people in SB were staying out of the way and did not have to listen to your excursion.

Apr 10, 2020 07:11 PMI don’t think those photos were taken from a plane. They might have been taken from John’s house.

It looks obvious to me that those photos were not taken from a plane. John is a competent pilot and would not be doing low altitude buzzing runs over the town.

Apr 11, 2020 12:14 AMThanks John. Beautiful! So peaceful. Colorful. Those yellows are brilliant right now. So glad you caught the misty clouds between the mountains and hills. There was a long ridge of them, as far as I could see, quite unusual. The sky, mountains, hills, and brilliant clouds have been spectacular lately! Am I noticing them more now being at home?
