Mountain Lion in Mission Canyon area

By an edhat reader

I saw this in my Nextdoor feed today:

“Warning: Livestock/Pet Owner’s in Mission Canyon. It appears that a mountain lion killed one of my goats last night. I live on Las Canoas Road between Mission Canyon Road and Rattlesnake Canyon. We’ve kept four goats in a 1/4 acre fenced pen since adopting them seven years ago and haven’t had an incident until now. The mountain lion got the oldest one of the two we had left (two had passed away of old age), my sweet girl who was handicapped due to an arthritic leg. The mountain lion will be back tonight, guaranteed, so the younger one (her daughter) is locked in the barn overnight, and though she hates it, she’ll have to sleep in the barn every night for awhile. Just letting neighbors know that a mountain lion is currently prowling in this part of her territory.”
