The Montecito Fire Department, assisted by Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue and AMR ambulance, successfully conducted a trail rescue operation for an injured female mountain biker on the San Ysidro Trail this Friday.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., emergency teams were dispatched following reports of a mountain biker around 2 miles up the trail suffering from an ankle injury.
Utilizing their specialized Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV91), Montecito Firefighters and Search & Rescue were able to reach the injured biker swiftly, providing essential first aid and stabilizing the injury on-site.
The patient was safely transported down to the trailhead by 1:00 p.m. where she was transferred to the ground ambulance for further medical evaluation and treatment.
“Our UTV is a crucial piece of equipment for efficiently reaching patients, bringing them to safety and providing care as quickly as possible,” said the Montecito Fire Department.
The Montecito Fire Department took this occasion to remind outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the sunshine responsibly and to prioritize safety at all times while exploring the natural beauty of the region.
