A motorcyclist was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with serious injuries following a collision on Highway 101 near Buellton.
Emergency personnel responded to Highway 101 northbound near Jonata Park Road around 12:00 p.m. Saturday and discovered debris in the slow lane and a motorcyclist lying in the roadway following a collision with a vehicle.
A CalStar helicopter arrived to transport the female victim in her 30s with serious injuries to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The freeway was closed in both directions to accommodate the helicopter landing on the roadway.
The southbound lanes of the freeway and one northbound lane opened around 12:30 p.m. with all lanes opening after 1:00 p.m.
A tow truck arrived to remove the motorcycle and VW Jetta involved in the collision.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision.
