A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after colliding with a truck on Highway 101 near Carpinteria on Friday, December 5, 2025.
At approximately 7:35 a.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a major injury crash on Highway 101 northbound, just south of north Padaro Lane.
A 27-year-old Santa Barbara County resident was riding his Suzuki motorcycle lane splitting in this area. For reasons still under investigation, the rider collided with a white Ford F250 work truck and then landed in the truck bed, CHP stated.
The rider sustained major injuries. His name has yet to be disclosed.
The number two and three lanes of Highway 101 northbound, south of North Padaro Lane, were closed for approximately 1.5 hours during the on-scene investigation.
CHP states the weather at the time of this crash was clear, cool, and dry, with moderate traffic. Traffic on the freeway was impacted during the on-scene investigation.
The crash remains under investigation currently.
