A new creative space has opened in Morro Bay, inviting knitters, crocheters, and yarn enthusiasts to explore and connect with the local community.
Called Morro Bay Yarn Shop, the small business opened on November 29, 2025, at 739 Napa Avenue, Morro Bay, and is owned by Rae Odom. The shop aims to foster community, creativity, and shared engagement among local crafters.

Through social media, Odom has highlighted several yarn brands available at the store.
These include Retrosaria Rosa Pomar, known for its vibrant colors and soft yet rustic textures; Knitting for Olive, offered in three varieties, namely Merino, Heavy Merino, and Soft Silk Mohair; and Kelbourne Woolens, with three options of Scout, Germantown, and Skipper.
The Germantown line is made from 100% North American wool and is part of a rare, fully U.S.-sourced supply chain.

In addition to yarn, the Morro Bay Yarn Shop offers crochet and knitting kits, visible mending supplies, fiber project accessories, and instructional books. The shop also features a rack of handmade wool sweaters crafted by Odom and her mother-in-law, according to The Tribune.

The store is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. According to the Morro Bay Yarn Shop Instagram page, it remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
In a Facebook comment, the store clarified that group crochet classes are currently limited to ages 13 and older. However, the shop stated that it plans to offer group classes specifically for younger participants in the future.
Meanwhile, a new family-run thrift store, The Silly Bee, has opened in Lompoc Valley, according to Edhat on November 24, 2025. The store is a family-run business located at 101 North Street inside the Lilley building. The store offers thrift goods, but in addition to that, it also offers shirt-making and wood carving spaces.
