A Buellton man is facing ten additional charges for alleged inappropriate sexual contact with 11 teenage boys in various California counties.
Gregory Scott Ray, 52, pleaded not guilty to a total of 31 criminal counts last week, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 18, 2019, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Santa Ynez Valley High School regarding alleged inappropriate sexual contact between a student and Ray. A teacher allegedly overheard a conversation and reported to School Administrators who then contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s investigation revealed Ray was using a social media app as a way to meet and have sexual contact with young males. Sheriff’s Detectives confirmed he had inappropriate sexual contact with three known male victims, ages 13 to 17 in the Santa Ynez Valley throughout several years.
Ray was arrested on April 9, 2019 at his Buellton home on charges of lewd and lascivious acts, sodomy, and sexual penetration with a foreign object. Less than a week later, Sheriff’s Detectives announced additional victims had been identified and they believed there to be more. Since the initial arrest, Ray has also been charged with sexual battery, oral copulation, and attempting to dissuade a victim and the total victim count has risen from three to eleven.
The crimes allegedly occurred in Santa Barbara, Fresno, and Orange counties from 2007 through 2018.
Ray is in custody with bail set at $500,000. He’s scheduled to return to court on January 9.
