I saw a headline on the National Weather Service website titled, “Montecito Debris Flow Survey.”
Clicking on the link reads the following:
Dr. Laura Myers from the University of Alabama, in partnership with National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard, is conducting a study on the warning process during the recent Montecito debris flow and mudslide. This study will focus on your experiences prior to, during and following January 9. Having your input will allow Dr. Myers and the NWS better understand your needs and improve the warning process for the Los Angeles/Oxnard community. The information you provide will remain confidential and your name will not be associated with your responses. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the study. You will be asked for demographic information to ensure we are getting responses from all of the population. Names and identities will not be associated with the surveys. All data will be anonymous and will be stored on password protected computers. Only summarized data will be presented at meetings or in publications. There are no risks to participating in this study. Dr. Laura Myers from the University of Alabama will be conducting this survey research study.
