No town is safe from the mysterious monolith appearances. The mysterious hunk of metal appeared on the roof of Santa Barbara Forge at 626 E. Gutierrez Street. The question remains, who did it?

Very disappointing if they are not extra-terrestrial. We need some super intelligent beings to come down and show us the way. Otherwise this is not going to end well.

It's impossible for most humans not to be creative or active. It's like asking toddlers to stand still, babies not to cry, young people not to (ahem) yearn. Monoliths are what someone with time on their hands dreamed up and made, not a lot different from building garden boxes, sewing masks or aborigines painting on cave walls. It's our nature, a blessing or a curse depending on how its deployed.

I’m not so impressed.
A copycat does nothing more than echo an original.
Boring ...
Come up with something new.

Yes, this is more of an obelisk—but wait, no, those taper toward the top. What do we call these three- or four-sided metal monument-like things?

That property owner should properly have it removed before teens start climbing the building for a selfie. A lawsuit waiting to happen.

Did someone other than Forge employees place the monolith, or, did Forge personnel place the monolith? The Forge business works with steel and metal, could have easily made the monolith and placed it above the business. Who dunnit?

Let's hope the Sign Committee, Architectural Board of Review, and Historic Landmarks Commission enjoys the moment and overlooks any infraction. :)

I LOVE it! We could all use some silliness in our lives right now! What next you say? How about a whole bunch of Covid babies named Monolith?

Let's just hope no dirtbag racists from OC drive up and take this one down. Then again, I'd love to see these metal workers fend off a bunch of sissy boy idiots.

Same here, but people are having fun so whatever! Live and let live. This one bugs me way less though since it didn't permanently alter the natural landscape.

SBCOUNTYLOCAL - they're outside and properly distanced. Use your sense of perspective looking at the first couple photos.

LOL! Love that second photo ... supplication to the monolith. It was interesting how they found the GPS location of the first one in Utah. Someone reviewed the flight track of the helicopter doing the Bighorn sheep survey that discovered the monolith then noted the coordinate when the copter landed to inspect. Clever. It was near the east edge of the Needles District of Canyonlands Nat'l Park south of Moab and west of Monticello. On the way to Newspaper Rock.
