Founded by professional dancer, educator, and choreographer Besty Woyach in 2014, Momentum Dance Company is a seven-time national award winning competitive company, according to its website.
Woyach has been trained and danced professionally in hip hop, jazz, lyrical, ballet, tap, and contemporary.
Woyach’s goal to create the dance studio was to inspire dancers in Santa Barbara to achieve more skills and climb more levels in their dance career.
Momentum Dance Company offers classes in acro, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and tap.
The dance studio also has a special program called ‘Twirl’ for young dancers aged between three and five years, along with classes that focus on technical tricks, such as pirouettes, chainne turns, center leaps, and more.
The company offers intimate sized classes focused on each dancer’s strengths and goals. Currently, the studio offers classes to dancers aged 2 to 18 years.
The dance company places dancers based on their age or grade and does not require a placement class before joining classes.
Momentum Dance Company also organizes summer dance camps.
In addition to dance classes, Momentum Dance Company also offers a recreational program based on the highest quality of dance education.
Momentum Dance Studio aims to inspire dancers to climb new heights, both on and off the dance floor.
While Momentum Dance Company is recognized for participating in competitions, participation is optional, according to the website. The dance instructors instill values, such as team work, goal setting, dedication, and commitment.
Participating in competitions give dancers the opportunity to receive constructive feedback and identify areas for improvement beyond what their daily instructors provide them with, the dance studio mentioned. It offers a fresh perspective and keeps dancers “on their toes.”
Dancers from Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, and Goleta train at the studio, ranging from new beginners to trained dancers, according to the website.
