Construction of a major pavement replacement project along Mission Street from U.S. 101 to State Street will begin on Monday, July 8. In addition to repaving the roadway along this corridor, the project will upgrade access ramps; repair sidewalks, curbs, and gutters; replace failing traffic signal conduit; and smooth out dips. Drivers should expect delays, detours, reduced speed zones, and traffic control when driving through the construction site. Construction will occur through September and will include some weekend work to lessen impacts in high-traffic areas.

In addition, concrete construction on Los Olivos Street from Laguna Street to Mission Canyon Road will begin in early August, after Fiesta, and pavement replacement will begin in late September.

This project is funded by SB1 and local Measure C funds. For more information and to subscribe for project updates, please visit SantaBarbaraCA.gov/MissionStreetPaving.

Mission Street Possible

That's a major traffic-handler. Let's hope they do it in less time than they generally take.

Mission Street Possible

Recently did the airport access road - did one half at a time, and turned the other half into a two way street; Then came back and did the other half. Assume they will do the same for Mission. This will be such a welcome fix for what is claimed to be one of the most heavily trafficked street in the city. Most of Mission Canyon and much of the Riviera pour out on Mission Street. Goleta Lompoc, Cottage, Buellton and Santa Maria commuters pour into the city on Mission Street, plus all the tourists looking haplessly for the Mission on Mission. Who knows how many use this street to enjoy McConnells ice cream too. There is always a line.
