Missing UCSB Student Found Deceased

Friends of Annie Wang have reported she was found deceased by the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team near Cold Spring Bridge.

Investigators state her death is believed to be a suicide.

Wang is from San Diego and her family has been notified.

Friends are hosting a memorial service on Thursday evening (May 24) in the Manzanita Village Courtyard at UC Santa Barbara from 7:30-9:30pm.

A missing person’s report has been filed for second-year UC Santa Barbara student Annie Wang who was last seen on May 18th.

She was last seen on Friday at 3:00 a.m. by her roommate in UCSB’s Manzanita Village residence hall. She was carrying a turquoise Jansport backpack and a red razer A5 scooter. Her cell phone is reportedly off or dead.

Friends report she had multiple community service events scheduled for Friday and Saturday, which she did not attend, and she did not discuss leaving town.

Wang is described as an Asian-American female, 5’5″ in height, weighing 135 lbs. She has dark shoulder-length hair with brown and blonde highlights, typically worn straight.

The UC Police Department is handling the investigation. Anyone with information on Wang’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact UCPD at 805-893-3446. A Facebook page has also been set up to help bring forth new information.

  1. I’m happy she is no longer hurting inside but I’m sad for her family and friends. Some people think everyone that is depressed and suicidal can always be “fixed” but that’s the farthest from the truth. RIP Annie.
