At lunchtime, I saw an elderly man being worked on by paramedics in one of the aisles in Gelsons. Shoppers were still strolling around with their baskets and standing in the long lines at the tills. I hope he made it OK: does anyone know if he's all right?

Shoppers were still strolling around, people were in line at the tills. What did you think? That they should be gathered in a crowd around the medically distressed elderly man? That they should put down their shopping and leave the store? Were they even aware that someone was being attended to by paramedics?

The shoppers were respecting the privacy of the ill man by going about their own business and not getting into his business.

Don't feel bad about being curious everyone is curious even if those people were just going on with their shopping I'm sure they were wondering...I hope the man pulled through but I don't know I hear so many medical emergencies everyday.

I've had this situation happen twice - once with my MIL having a diabetic issue and another time with my grandmother having an angina attack. IF we have peeps helping then yes, go on your way. If we don't and are asking for help, then please help us - we probably just need you to call 911 and let us know we are ok. When you are in the moment, it can be difficult to articulate what is needed - although certainly we can say "yes" or "no".
