Mark Dominguez Morehart

(August 16, 1951 – April 3, 2018)

Mark, son of Jack and Frannie Morehart, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Cottage Hospital with family at his side.

Mark grew up in Pacific Palisades – he went to Corpus Christi School with his eight sisters and brothers, then Chaminade High School and St. Monicas. He was proud of being an Eagle Scout and receiving the Altare Dei award. He was also a horseman and competed in Hunter Jumper trials at the Santa Barbara Showgrounds.

Mark loved going to Hawaii and Tahiti to be with his brother Michael. One of the big highlights of his life was when they sailed for 17 days from Hawaii to Alaska on Michael’s boat, with winds at 60 miles an hour and waves 30 feet high – a real adventure!

He came to Santa Barbara permanently in 1974 and was devoted to family and his Faith in God.

Mark was generous to his family, appreciative, funny and proud to be an 8th generation Californian and a loving son. Mark loved his 3 dogs, 12 peacocks and 6 donkeys.

Weep not for me, my family dear

I am not dead, but sleeping here

I was not yours, but God’s alone

He loved me best, and took me home.

The funeral Mass will be held at Serra Chapel at the Old Mission, Santa Barbara, at 10:00 a.m. on April 6, 2018.
