Maria Ignacio Bike Path Closure and Sandbag Info

By the City of Goleta
The Maria Ignacio Bike Path located East of Patterson Avenue on Hollister Avenue is closed at this time and will be periodically the next few weeks due to rain and scheduled maintenance work. We appreciate your patience as we make improvements to this approximately 1/4 mile long bike path.
With upcoming rain in the forecast, we also want to remind our community that there are three self-service sandbag stations in the City of Goleta.
- Fire Station 11 (6901 Frey Way and Storke Road just south of Santa Felicia, across from the main post office)
- Fire Station 14 (320 Los Carneros Road next to the Stow House Museum lot)
- Goleta Valley Community Center (5679 Hollister Avenue)
Here are some things you should know about sandbag pick up:
- Sand and bags are available on a first come, first served basis.
- Pick up is open during daylight hours, seven days/week.
- 20 bag limit (additional bags can be purchased at home improvement stores).
- Bags are for residents.
- Bring your shovel to fill the bags.
- It is easiest to fill the bags with two people — one to hold the bag and the other to shovel the sand.

Dec 29, 2022 07:40 PM"imagine a mountain biker with headphones in their ears blasting death metal careening at top speed around that corner, potentially spooking the boy." Hope they close those gate(s) when it's not safe! It's usually more efficient to keep the speed up under there...

Dec 30, 2022 11:10 AMTom's blog was a good read. There's a Maria YgnaciA Lane up near the Greek Orthodox church. And on my Garmin/USGS maps, the spelling for the creek alternates between YgnaciO and YgnaciA.
Death metal indeed. That quote may become some sort of ... Edhat trope?

Feb 08, 2023 01:39 PMWhen is the underpass of Maria Ignacio Bike path supposed to reopen? its been several weeks, repairs look done, it is very dangerous detouring over the overpass (as a daily bike commuter).
