Maria de la Luz Salazar Perez

Maria de la Luz “Lucy” Salazar Perez passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Mazatan, Nayarit, Mexico on December 30, 1945, Lucy moved to Santa Barbara in the 1960’s and married Francisco Javier Perez on August 31, 1963. They raised four children together and enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage before Francisco passed away on April 4, 2013. Lucy had an infectious smile with deep dimples and a laugh that could light up a room. She was well-known and beloved by the numerous children she cared for in the neighborhood and in her community, and especially by her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews laughing and recounting memories from their childhood. Family was always her main priority and she made sure to instill this deeply in her children and grandchildren.

Lucy is survived by her siblings, Juan Francisco Salazar, Josephina Coronado, and Carmen Aguirre; as well as her children, Luis (Christina), Patricia (Heriberto), Marcos, and Joel; and her ten grandchildren, Alyssa, Ariel, Joshua, Nico, Cia, Brian, Gizelle, Marcos Junior, Michelle, and Camila, and her great-granddaughter Emery.

Please join us in celebrating the life of our beloved Lucy.

Funeral services will be as follows:
