I wrote about this building (913 State St.) in my book “Way Back When: Santa Barbara in 1919” because the building’s façade was redone that year. The building had been the Bon Ton Market for a couple of decades. In 1919, it was remodeled and became the Levy Shoe Store which lasted until the 1990s. – Betsy J. Green
