ANSWER

This is none other than the Timbers Roadhouse at 10 Winchester Canyon, right off Highway 101 in North Goleta.

This place has quite a history, according to the restaurant’s website. It was built in the 1950s by Tex Blankenship and his wife Emma who purchased 21 acres which were once part of the historic Dos Pueblos land grant known as “Goleta 7” – and originally envisioned the land to be used to build another Knott’s Berry Farm.

Blankenship salvaged and hauled 12×15 inch pine timbers from the Ellwood Pier that survived the attack by a Japanese submarine during World War II. Stonemasons John & James Rezzonico were brought in to build the dining hall’s massive fireplace, using stones from the Cachuma Lake Project.

Unfortunately, the restaurant Blankenship dreamed of never opened and the building sat empty for a decade until it was purchased by restaurateur Sam Villiotes.

“After years of turnover, new names, new owners & even being used as a place of worship for a Lutheran congregation The Timber’s name was resurrected some 40 years ago as a popular Goleta eatery. Closing once again in 2003,” the restaurant website states.

Last year, Kim and Gino Stabile reopened the local landmark as Timbers Roadhouse, continuing the original dream that was started over 60 years ago.
