And the game just got closer! The sculpture peeking out from the bushes is located at the corner of the 1600 block of Santa Barbara Street and the 200 block of E. Arrellaga Street, in the garden of the Ridley-Tree Education Center.

As some astute players pointed out it appears to be an original Fernando Botero (“Mother and Child”) and, according to staff at the center, this statue came from Lady Leslie Ridley-Tree’s personal collection and could at one time be found at her residence. Another reader remembers possibly seeing this at the front entrance of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in the 90s.
