Guessing has closed and points have been awarded.

The answer is the now closed but still majestic Royal Theater at 848 Guadalupe Avenue/Highway 1 in Guadalupe. The Royal Theater opened in 1939 and closed in the late 1990's. (Address has been corrected).

March Edness 2019: Day 14

Although I am not participating in this contest, I see the same names daily as the "winners." They can't all be zooming all over the county to determine the tough ones presented. I have a sneaking suspicion that Google & a few other image recognition apps are at play here too. Opinions?

SB Tahoe - The strategy that worked for me was to drive around aimlessly, but always stop to pick up hitchhikers who looked like Howard Hughes. That took care of the trust fund part, eventually.

A lot of the Edhat followers are retired or trust-funders with nothing else to do all day but drive around. They probably did some research to prepare for March Edness. Drove throughout the county taking photos and jotting down addresses of murals and interesting buildings/statues/etc. And yes, google earth is useful too.

The tag visible on the door says 848, and Google Earth gives the street address for the Royal Theater as 848 Guadalupe Street. Entering 437 Guadalupe Street in Google Earth takes you to a warehouse. And Guadalupe Avenue doesn't seem to exist. Some web articles on abandoned theaters do give the address as 437 Guadalupe Avenue. Have the streets been renamed or renumbered? Which is correct?

848 Guadalupe Street is correct, AKA CA Hwy 1 or Cabrillo Hwy. AAA and others also call it Street and not Ave. and it's always been odd numbers on the left and even on the right like here, Goleta and Carp. Think Santa Maria and Lompoc are the opposite. Numbering is almost always consistent for obvious public safety, mail and delivery purposes. Go up State, odd on the left, turn left, odd on the left or turn right from State, odd on the left....I'd guess everyone already knew that.

I was hoping that address mixup would net big wins for those more astute on fine details. Evidently Ed was tricked into thinking that was the right address. I'm with you, the building and Google maps say 848. Oh well. No harm done I guess!
