ANSWER

The answer is… the Waterwheel in Isla Vista at the heart of Anisq ‘Oyo Park. It’s such a calm setting in Isla Vista while watching the ducks along the creek, it almost makes one feel like they’re in a different place.  As edhat player mfitch54 describes, “Refurbished by UCSB Engineering students in 2015, this wooden wheel was originally built to aerate the pond at the southwest corner of the park and contribute to the health of the fish, ducks and other urban wildlife that call the pond home.” Plus Penelope805 shares a fun fact, “Anisq’ Oyo is the Chumash word for Isla Vista.”

Plus, edhat player holazola found a picture on Facebook of the original one that’s guesstimated to be from 1978. Great find!
