On August 28, 2019, Santa Barbara Police Department Narcotics Detectives working in conjunction with the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Deputies received information regarding a local methamphetamine dealer identified as Santa Barbara resident David Jimenez, age 42.
Earlier this week, Jimenez was arrested for DUI while riding a motorcycle. Jimenez was booked at Santa Barbara County Jail for DUI, and the motorcycle was impounded to a tow yard in Buellton.
Through a collaborative investigative effort between Santa Barbara Police Detectives and Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office Deputies it was determined Jimenez had hidden a large amount of methamphetamine on his motorcycle prior to his DUI arrest.
A search warrant was obtained and upon serving the warrant, detectives located approximately 5.6 ounces of methamphetamine under the seat of Jimenez’ motorcycle. Jimenez was charged with 11378 H/S Methamphetamine Possession for Sales and 11379 H/S Methamphetamine Transportation.

Fun Friday challenge: Meth is called "Crank" because motorcycle gang members used to hide it in their crankcases. What new nicknames can y'all come up with given this guy hid it in his seat???

Strange they needed a search warrant to look in the bike. With a DUI you'd think they would have the probable cause to search. The meth could have sat months at the impound yard until he came back to claim the bike. Selling it would have paid for the impound charges!
