On Thursday, September 18, 2025, at approximately 11:47 p.m., officers from the Arroyo Grande Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 emergency call reporting a subject who entered a residence in the 600 block of Victoria Way and stabbed both occupants.

Upon arrival, officers entered the residence and located two adult victims suffering from stab wounds. Officers render first aid with the assistance of Five Cities Fire and SLO Ambulance.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, one of the victims later succumbed to their injuries.

Preliminary information identified the suspect as Fritz Schnoor, a 35-year-old resident of Oceano, CA.

Officers were assisted by the Grover Beach Police Department, the Pismo Beach Police Department and the SLO County Sheriff’s Office in locating and apprehending Schnoor a short distance from the residence.  He was arrested without incident.

Based on the investigation it was determined Schnoor acted alone in committing this assault. There is no indication that any additional suspects were involved, and there is no known threat to public safety.

Schoor was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for the following charges:

  • California Penal Code 187(a) – Homicide
  • California Penal Code 664/187(a) – Attempted Homicide
  • California Penal Code 459 – Burglary

Schnoor was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he is being held without bail.  This investigation is ongoing and the Arroyo Grande Police Department encourages anyone with any video or information regarding this investigation to contact the Investigations Bureau at 805.473.5127 or tramirez@arroyogrande.org or jburns@arroyogrande.org

    • Yep, after reading the article I couldn’t believe it. It sure sounded like that dude should’ve been committed indefinitely. That couple should’ve really tried harder to protect themselves. They knew a crazy was out for them and that nobody else was going to be proactively helping. A dog, cameras, alarm system (that actually works), and appropriate weapons were warranted. Sad to say someone would have to do all that, but they sometimes do. Not a bad idea for everyone.
