Major Injury in SR-154 Traffic Collision

A woman sustained major injuries and needed to be cut out of her vehicle after a head-on traffic collision on SR-154 Thursday morning.

Around 7:30 a.m., an SUV and Honda sedan collided during a busy morning commute. The female driver of the sedan, described to be in her mid-twenties, was trapped inside the vehicle and required major extrication, reports Santa Barbara County Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni. She sustained major injuries and was transported to Cottage Hospital via ground ambulance.

The male driver of the SUV, described to be in his twenties, suffered minor injuries and was also transferred to Cottage Hospital, said Zaniboni.

The collision caused major traffic delays in the area as the roadway was closed briefly. 

The cause of the collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
