A major-injury traffic crash on Highway 101 southbound just south of the Seacliff exit is causing delays Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Ventura office.
CHP issued a traffic alert at 9:45 a.m. reporting emergency crews on scene with no lane closures at that time and urging drivers to slow down and use caution.
By 10:30 a.m., the agency said the #3 (right) lane was closed to facilitate the crash investigation and vehicle recovery. Traffic through the area was described as moderate.
No estimate for reopening or additional details about the crash were immediately released.
Although, the CHP Incident Page states the collision involves a gray Tesla and a fatality was confirmed.
Drivers are advised to reduce speed and use caution while passing the scene.
Update: At 12:30 p.m., CHP stated the #3 lane of Highway 101 southbound, south of Seacliff exit, is closed to facilitate the recovery of the Tesla. Traffic through the area is heavy.
All lanes were open as of 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
