The Los Padres National Forest announced Monday that the Madre Fire is 100% contained.
The expansive brush fire sparked along Highway 166 between Santa Maria and Cuyama on July 2. It burned 80,779 acres in total destroying one structure and damaging another.
The fire spread quickly in the first few days prompting several evacuation orders and warnings, road closures, and air quality alerts. Within two weeks, firefighters gained a handle on most of the fire and began cancelling evacuations and reopening roadways.
Two firefighters were reportedly injured while battling the fire. An update on their conditions were no provided.
The official cause of the fire has yet to be released.
