A four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom oceanfront estate located at 1547 Shoreline Drive in Santa Barbara’s Mesa neighborhood has hit the market with a $14.5 million price tag, according to a listing on Redfin.
Sitting on just over half an acre of coastline and spanning 5,217 sq. ft., the two-story estate was designed as a casual resort-style retreat by architect Tom Ochsner about four years ago, according to the listing.
The luxury estate offers expansive views of the ocean, with the rooms featuring high ceilings to allow ample light inside the property. A gourmet kitchen offers convenient access to a view terrace.
The property has four bedroom suites, including a master bedroom with a fireplace, ocean view terrace, and a spa-like bathroom, according to the listing.
The interiors include a media room, a gallery office and an entertaining area with views through cascading windows, and a game room with a half-bath and a wine showcase behind glass doors.
An expansive oceanfront deck features a jacuzzi, lounge chairs, and al-fresco dining table. A secret hideaway below the deck offers ocean views.
The property includes a private half-acre of grounds with palm trees, meandering paths, and exotic trees to create the ambiance of a tropical forest, according to the listing.
The estate also features a two-car garage.
The estate was listed by Sotheby’s International Realty.
The property first sold in 1986 for $585,000 and then changed hands several times over the years, with the price climbing with every transaction, according to the listing. Prior to its recent listing, the property sold for $16.2 million in January 2023 and was listed several times throughout 2025.
Details of the most recent seller were not disclosed.
Luxury Real Estate Market in Santa Barbara
The Mesa neighborhood is a seller’s market, according to Redfin. Inventory is low and competition is high in the area, giving sellers more negotiating power.
Santa Barbara is home to some of the most luxurious properties in California and is one of the most expensive housing markets in the country.
The Santa Maria-Santa Barbara region ranked 10th nationally among luxury markets in the state, according to the Fall 2025 Wall Street Journal and Realtor.com Luxury Housing Market Ranking.
The city’s coastal appeal and a high volume of million-dollar listings makes it one of the most competitive luxury housing markets in California.
In December 2025, a coastal estate in the gated enclave of Hope Ranch sold for $10.75 million. In the same month, a contemporary four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom estate hit the market for $7.95 million.

It’s got a vacant lot right next door — might’ve been part of the “multiple property sale.”
Hope the new owners enjoy the years-long construction noise.
Construction is already ongoing on the vacant lot.
It’s also sitting on top of a former oil well.
