As Lucky Penny prepares to open a new location in Los Olivos, the Santa Barbara-based wood-fired pizzeria will host a weekend pop-up in February, offering the community an early preview.

The restaurant will host a soft opening during Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day weekend.

The pop-up will run from February 14 through February 16, starting at 11:30 a.m. each day and continuing until the kitchen sells out. The event is designed to give locals and visitors a first taste of the restaurant’s style and offerings ahead of a full opening.

The Los Olivos location will be at 2902 San Marcos Avenue and will become Lucky Penny’s second restaurant. Lucky Penny currently operates at 127 Anacapa Street in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone.

Lucky Penny is part of the Acme Hospitality Group, which operates several restaurants and bars throughout the region.

The restaurant is also available for private events and offers catering.

Lucky Penny is known for its wood-fired pizza, cooked in a traditional oven that produces a lightly charred crust and Neapolitan-style flavor, according to the restaurant’s website.

The menu includes pizzas such as Margherita, East Coast Pepperoni, and Classic Cheese, along with house specialties. The OG features fennel sausage and Calabrian chile, while the Salty Surfer pairs prosciutto with wood-fired pineapple.

The restaurant also sells branded merchandise, including stickers and apparel.

Lucky Penny is led by Executive Chef Jason Paluska and General Manager Morgan Grey. Established in 2013, the restaurant has become a staple of Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone.

The Santa Barbara location is known for its exterior, which is covered with more than 164,000 real copper pennies. The space is designed as a casual, family-friendly gathering spot with picnic seating, custom murals, and an open layout.

With the addition of the Los Olivos location, Lucky Penny is expanding beyond Santa Barbara.
