Lower Riviera Structure Catches Fire Due to Electrical Issue

By edhat staff

Santa Barbara City Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Wednesday morning on Chiquita Road in the lower Riviera neighborhood.

Fire crews arrived on the scene and quickly knocked down the fire. An initial investigation determined the cause to be electrical in nature, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

The structure is reported to be a small back building or shed and one person was treated by paramedics for possible smoke inhalation, reports John Palminteri of KEYT News.

The fire did not spread to nearby structures.

The Fire Department would like to remind the community to practice electrical safety and not to overload power circuits. An electrical fire safety tip sheet can be found here.
