Looking Up
By John Wiley
Last night there was a welcome but unpleasant odor near the burn area. A pungent smell of wet ash, reassuring because it meant rain had washed it down San Antonio Creek and dampened hotspots to aid containment. This morning as if to give thanks to those crews spending this holiday rooting out each smouldering stump, snow! Looking up at La Cumbre Peak when clouds lifted, I noticed this Thanksgiving garnish around the old fire lookout.

Nov 28, 2019 06:45 PMWe saw that minor bit of snow predicted here on Edhat. My housemate said he saw the snow on his walk this morning. Thanks for sharing your terrific photo, John Wiley.

Nov 28, 2019 05:07 PMThanks for posting such a beautiful photo. I live on the westside and look up at the mountains. I had to take a double take this morning g when I realized that the white I was seeing was snow.
