Thursday morning brought moments of concern to the San Marcos High School (SMHS) community after reports surfaced of a juvenile with a gun on campus.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office promptly responded to a call received at 10:02 a.m., on September 12, initiating a swift action to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Upon their arrival, the campus was placed on a temporary lockdown as deputies embarked on a thorough search to locate the juvenile in question. Their efforts succeeded in locating the individual, allowing law enforcement to assess the situation further.

After a careful examination, deputies determined that the campus was secure and that there was no immediate threat to the safety of those on school grounds. As a result, the lockdown was lifted, much to the relief of the SMHS community, according to Sheriff’s spokesperson Raquel Zick.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has stated the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Further details will be released as they become available.

  1. Again, bad parenting & troubled youth.
In today’s day & age a child who bri gs a gun to school is not just doing it for show & tell. P
CA has laws to lock up guns.
Parents are supposed to lock up guns and tell kids they are absolutely not allowed to access them without an adult.

    Again, a parenting problem.
The number of kids that take parents alcohol & cats and get into accidents outweighs gun violence.

Have you noticed how there is more gun violence in states with the strictest gun control laws?

Have you noticed if you remove the couple of cities that are most violent cities out crime rates put as one of the safest countries out there.

Have you noticed how most gun crimes are committed by illegally obtained guns?

As to the 2nd amendment it was designed to allow the people to defend themselves from a tyrannical government.

Can you guarantee that our government will not be a tyrannical government? Regardless of who the president is. Guarantee that our government will not be corrupt, will it take away rights like the first amendment and will not coerce people to do things like take experimental drugs ?

You cannot guarantee that. And after watching international news there are quite a few countries that are trampling their citizens rights.

Did you notice how there was a gun possession case where a party tried to deem an illegal alien had the rights under the us constitution to own guns, while that same party tries to remove guns from legal citizens.

Just saying parents do your job. That is the front line.

  2. So what are you saying? Parents have no responsibility to parent their children?

Love this. Per other news sources there was no gun. “ The incident stemmed from a conversation between two students at Santa Barbara High School

And you all need to look up statistics on your own. Stop getting your faulty info from social
    Media.
Do some of your own research outside the paid for results. Otherwise you won’t believe them.

But here’s a statistic direct from the CDC about Covid that no one in SB wanted to acknowledge.
Per the CDC and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In 2019 there were 1,053 child car deaths under the age of 14 and 183,000 children injured in traffic crashes.

In 2020 583 children under the age of 18 died with Covid.

But the schools hosted vaccine clinics on campus for kids, bribed kids with pizza, sports & field trips to get them vaccinated. The school papers used peer pressure to get kids to take the drugs.

Why? Why did no one actually go to the CDC data directly. They’d rather listen to misinformation

But allow kids to be in cars depute the death rate in vehicles.

    • SBLETS – No, I’m saying you don’t know what happened so your instant blame of the parents is as unfounded and baseless as all your other claims.

“And you all need to look up statistics on your own. Stop getting your faulty info from social
Media.” – No, if you make a claim, YOU back it up. And please…. your comments sound like cut and pastes from Parler.

But OK, I’ll engage with this nonsense. You ready?

You said: “The number of kids that take parents alcohol & cats and get into accidents outweighs gun violence.” and then “In 2019 there were 1,053 child car deaths under the age of 14 and 183,000 children injured in traffic crashes.”

“But allow kids to be in cars depute the death rate in vehicles.” – Huh? No idea at all what that sentence means. Try again.

Well, the facts say you’re WRONG:
“In 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, there were 1,732 gun deaths among U.S. children and teens under the age of 18. By 2021, that figure had increased to 2,590.” https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/04/06/gun-deaths-among-us-kids-rose-50-percent-in-two-years/

2019: 1053 child deaths by car, 1732 child deaths by guns
2021: 1200 child deaths by car, 2590 child deaths by guns
      chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/ViewPublication/813575

So, MORE gun deaths in 2019 and 2021than car deaths among children. And that number keeps outweighing car deaths.

As for your COVID rants, not touching that. YOU can do the work. I’m tired of doing your work for you.

        • TARSAND – Your more than welcome to find some of your own.

In the long run though, even if there are more kids dying from car accidents than gun violence, it’s not a valid comparison. Cars are not design with the sole purpose to kill. Guns are. Guns have no other purpose. So when folks compare the 2, it’s irrelevant honestly.
