Local youth complete Santa Maria Police Teen Academy

16 young men and women completed the Santa Maria Police Department Teen Academy today. The Teen Academy is designed to give young people the opportunity to learn about the life as a Police Officer and about how the Santa Maria Police Department operates. The 1-week course, provided knowledge and understanding of the functions and responsibilities of providing law enforcement services in the City of Santa Maria. The Police Teen Academy included; basic introduction to law enforcement operations, a wide variety of classroom instruction, exciting hands-on training, a number of demonstrations and youth interacting with Santa Maria Police Officers. 

The Santa Maria Police Teen Academy is a summer youth program and is offered once a year.
