The leadership of Scout Troop 41 in Solvang is proud to announce that two of its Scouts have met the rigorous requirements for earning the prestigious Eagle Scout. Eagle Scout is the highest rank awarded in Scouting. To earn the Eagle Scout award a Scout must earn 21 Merit Badges, including 14 specific mandatory badges, as well as a major community project that serves as a final step to receiving the Eagle Badge.
Spencer Snodgrass and Diego Stephenson Carrasco were honored at an Eagle Court of Honor, May 31 at Bethania Lutheran Church in Solvang. Bethania has long been the official sponsor for Scout Troop 41.
Spencer began his Scouting career as a Cub Scout in Pack 91. Spencer was excited to get started and follow in his brother’s and dad’s footsteps all the way to Eagle. In 2014 Spencer earned his Arrow of Light and transitioned to Scouts. Spencer earned numerous merit badges, his favorite being fishing. Spencer graduated from high school in 2025 and is now balancing a full schedule working and studying. Spencer is pursuing a path towards becoming a software engineer or cybersecurity expert.
Diego began his Scouting journey in 2016 as a Cub Scout in Den 42, eventually earning his Arrow of Light in 2019 before transitioning to Troop 41. A highlight of his Scouting career was attending the National Jamboree in West Virginia. To earn the rank of Eagle Diego earned 21 merit badges and dedicated his service project to La Purisima Mission, where he rebuilt a redwood picnic table and refurbished a scenic overlook. A soon-to-be 2026 graduate from Dunn School, Diego will head to college this fall to pursue a degree in Biochemistry from the University California at Santa Cruz.

The Eagle Badge has been awarded to 2.5 million Scouts since 1911, including notable Americans such as Gerald Ford, Neil Armstrong and Steven Spielberg.

A hearty congratualtions to these two. Quite the laudable achievement.
I made it all the way except finishing my project. I’ll always regret that. All I wanted to do was surf 😂
