Local musician Martin Gore was one of the recent inductees in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of his band “Depeche Mode.”

Earlier this month the Rock Hall Class of 2020 was unveiled including the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., and T. Rex.

Gore is credited with being the band’s primary songwriter and plays keyboard, guitar, and contributes with backup vocals. Depeche Mode has sold over 100 million records and played live to more than 30 million fans worldwide. They were called “the most popular electronic band the world has ever known” by Q magazine and “one of the greatest British pop groups of all time” by The Sunday Telegraph.

Originally born in England, Gore has made Santa Barbara his home for many years.

This was Depeche Mode’s third nomination for the prestigious honor. Gore will join his bandmates Vince Clarke, Andy Fletcher, Dave Gahan, and Alan Wilder at the induction ceremony on May 2 in Cleveland, OH.
