Update by Heather McBride

Because of all the publicity on edhat, the stolen Little Free Library has been recovered! Someone dumped it in a dumpster and someone else found it, they called the police who found us and returned it!

By Heather McBride

Someone stole our Little Free Library on December 16, 2017.

This library had been a gift of love from us to our neighborhood. My retired husband built it and our graphic artist son designed and painted it with over 100 hours of work!

I am a retired school Librarian (SBUSD) so this was a family project 2 years old! On 12/16/17 someone yanked the library and post out of its concrete base on the corner of Puente and Mint Lane.

Please email edhat at [email protected] if you have any information about its whereabouts.

Here are photos of damage to the ground when it was ripped out.

I love the little Library and the story behind it.
What is wrong with people these days?
I hope it gets returned and still in beautiful condition.
Talk about Grinch. Geez some jerks even stole a Firefighters gear.

WOW. That is just horrible. The depths that some people sink to these days is despicable. I hope it is returned.

It does seem outrageous. In fact it seems so outrageous that one has a niggling suspicion that maybe there was an issue about the location of this library box. Or something else besides mere avarice. It is not like someone is going to put this up in a public place locally.

So happy the Library was returned.
Thank you for returning it. Whoever you are you might want to try reading books that are left there for everyone and anyone. Bless you for not destroying it. I was so sad about this since I first heard about it. Merry Christmas from the Grinch!
