Library Services are Offline
By an edhat reader
The Blackgold library system appears to be the cyber-glue that holds together patron account info, library holds, access to digital resources where a sign-in is needed, catalog search, etc. It appears a single point-of-failure failed.
The website states, "On Monday, January 4th, the Black Gold Library Cooperative catalog suffered a hardware failure and is offline. Black Gold staff are working to restore the catalog and we hope this is completed by the end of the week."

Jan 06, 2021 12:53 PMThe Library wants to end the Black and Gold and get a cheaper cataloguing system; maybe this is the first step in the process?

Jan 06, 2021 01:19 PMBlack Gold is the link to the Overdrive system, a lifeline of free audio books that I use constantly, to learn while I am drawing or driving. I encourage anyone to look into signing up for it, break the tether to TV and instead listen while you get some other work done. Whatever interests you, you can find a book about it there.

Jan 07, 2021 08:46 AMOne steller benefit of our library system is the ability to read the NY Times online for free (paid for by the State library system funded by us taxpayers). It's a bit buried in the Santa Barbara Library website. Login, then on the left-hand side, click on News and Research Databases under the Patron Resources section, then you'll see the link on the following page. Enjoy!
