Lead Found in Goleta School Water

By edhat staff

Lead has been found in the water at several elementary schools in Goleta Union School District (GUSD).

According to the “Voluntary Water Testing Results” on the GUSD website, several water taps did not pass the acceptable range of the Environmental Protection Agency’s drinking water standards.

Ellwood Elementary School had the most lead with six contaminated faucets, Hollister School reported four, while Foothill Elementary and Mountain View Elementary Schools had two, all with lead levels above the acceptable range.

KEYT reports all the water taps were immediately pulled out with new hydration stations to be installed by January at all nine schools within the district.
