Surfers and landlubbers alike enjoyed the spectacle of a fiery sunset over the Pacific from Coal Oil Point on the last day of the decade. Happy 2020!

Thanks for the photo! I recall there was a lot of press over the beginning of the new decade on 1/1/2000. (Potential computer glitches, etc.) Custom generally trumps logic in such cases.

The "Decade" ends on 12/31/2020 . Amazing how many people don't understand that !

The end of this decade isn't until 12/31/2020..... Because there was no zero year

True. For those born toward the end of the year, it makes calculating one's age confusing: If you turn 50 in December, you're 49 most of the year although you will be <completing> your 50th year alive that December. Most people think they're a year younger than they actually are, I think.

Yep, it's never made sense to me how we learn to count from 1 to 10 but for some, 0 to 9 is a decade.
