Last Chance to Complete Census, Deadline Moved to Thursday

Source: City of Goleta

Following a Supreme Court ruling, the 2020 Census response deadline which had been extended to October 31, is now over TOMORROW October 15, 2020.  That means if you have not completed your census, please do so NOW in the remaining hours by going to My2020Cenus.gov or by calling 844-330-2020 to make sure everyone in your household is counted. You can also go in person to Equalitech located at the Goleta Valley Community Center (5679 Hollister Avenue) in Room 13B and use a computer station there to fill out your census.  Equalitech, which has been open every Wednesday in September and October, is opening its doors on the last day of the deadline from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in hopes that anyone who has not filled out their census will take advantage of this final opportunity to do so and will take home a free Make Goleta Count swag bag.

While it will take several months for final numbers to be released, the City of Goleta is pleased to report that as of today, October 14, 76% of Goleta households completed their census which is higher than our rate of 75% in 2010.

We want to take this opportunity to thank the more than three quarter of Goleta households who filled out their census.  As a final step in our Make Goleta Count campaign, we want to continue our “Everyone Counts” drawing campaign to celebrate our great community participation in the 2020 Census.

We encourage you to take time out to create a piece of art (can be simple yet heartfelt) by hand or digital software using the theme “Everyone Counts” and the Make Goleta Count campaign.  Then, take a photo of your art and send it to us at PIO@CityofGoleta.org. Be sure your email includes the name and age of the artist, a short explanation of the artwork and how it fits into the theme. Please note, by submitting your art, you are allowing the City of Goleta to use your art on our outreach platforms. This contest is open to Goleta residents of all ages.

All submissions must be received by October 30th. Participants will be entered into a drawing for several prizes including gift cards to Blenders, Brophy Brothers/On the Alley, Los Arroyos, and Mesa Burger, ice skating and rental for four to Ice in Paradise, and bowling and shoe rental for four at Zodo’s.

We can’t wait to see your designs and celebrate the #GoodLandGoodPeople.

  1. I thought it’s a citizen’s responsibility to respond and be counted. There were print, radio and televised ads in English and Spanish; not to mention the neighborhood drive throughs and pop-ups in shopping centers. Maybe I’m just naive.
