Drug users encampment fire…another one.
Power lines involved? Turn off the city electricity!
You should call them that to their faces.
Government agencies Caltrans, city, county are liable for these homeless camp fires. Who will be held accountable when one of these fires gets out of control?
Huge encampment off Las Positas near the southbound onramp. You see it in its full glory when you take the train. They took out an encampment on the other side which, if it had caught fire, the Samarkand would have gone up in flames. You see the vagrants begging every day out in this area, most of them very unsteady. They are allowed to live in that encampment. And you see dozens of encampments along the tracks if you take the train. As you head south that whole area is filled with mattresses and encampments, large and small. And that’s in Montecito also. Several along Modoc and there have been fires along there. One good fire and with gusty winds and there goes Hidden Valley, Vista del Monte, Val Verde, etc. Call City Hall and get something done.
Open drug use, along with __numerous fires__, is the problem. Don’t confuse compassion with leniency. It is like parents who let bad kids go wild because they’re afraid to say “no”. Let’s just detain those “campers” who don’t pass drug tests. The rest, if there are any, can stay…
Oh hell yes. Drug test the campers. Make them pee in bottles and have the DEA or the State lab run a full battery of tests. We can catch the drunks and the diabetics too.
Some people in Santa Barbara benefit from druggies. How? By being involved in drug making, drug transporting/distribution, drug sales. Some are local doctors who encourage use of pain medications. So far, ALL the people who benefit from druggies are winning. Now it’s time for the other side to get strong, and not give in to the drug world’s talking points. There are a few of us who aren’t medicated, I think.
Well if they are not going to give us old fockers with horrible painful agony pain killers the Campers can’t have them either Damnit!
LA Times says that Bakersfield is going to criminalize homelessness and stick them in the extra beds in their local jail. Will cost about $3M/yr. Some of you might be really at home in that city, and they could use your tax dollars to pay for the incarceration.
