Landlord Dario Pini Faces Another City Lawsuit
An $8 million lawsuit against notorious landlord Dario Pini will continue in response to his thousands of building code violations, reports The Independent.
Pini faces another lawsuit from the City of Santa Barbara that aims to place 13 of his rental properties in a court-ordered receivership as well as a restraining order preventing property investors from transferring their interests before the case is resolved. Any proceeds from the result of the case are reported to be used to fix code violations on Pini's properties before distributing funds to lenders.

Sep 24, 2017 02:45 PMI've been wondering about this guy and his properties. The hotel on State Street near Islay (approx 1820 State St) has been under construction for years. I see work being done for a few days then nothing for months... we are in the "nothing for months" period again. Anyone know what the status of that hotel is? (Next to World Oil/76 Station).

Sep 24, 2017 04:38 PMIt's exactly what you said, worked on and then nothing for months even up to a year in between jobs. That's the status.

Sep 25, 2017 09:02 AMI watch the real estate section and this guys' still buying-definitely not hurting for money (money hoarder?). I still think, though, that he's just one of many. He just happened to piss off the wrong people.

Sep 25, 2017 09:37 AMI think it's more like he's a property hoarder. He does seem to have unlimited funds, though I guess that's because he has so much SB real estate to use as collateral (?)--hence the restraining order against investors.

Sep 25, 2017 12:51 PMYou can always tell a Pini property as you walk through the westside. Trash dumped on the curb, people living in RVs in the driveway, shopping carts scattered around, and holes in the fences from cars backing into them.. The city inspector in charge of responding to these complaints seems to keep pretty busy.
SB has a lot of problems and he accounts for more than his share.
