Singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey popped on stage for a quick song at Institution Ale while walking on State Street in Santa Barbara.

On Saturday, September 27, local band “The Fastest Kids in School, were performing a cover of Del Rey’s 2014 hit “West Coast” when she happened to be nearby. She then approached the band and asked if could join them.

Del Rey sang with the band until the end of that song and said “a very happy coincidence,” to the crowd.

“We are still in shock that the amazingly talented Lana Del Rey @honeymoon happened to be strolling State Street when she heard @fastestkidsinschool playing her song! She stopped by for a quick guest performance. A very happy coincidence indeed,” Institution Ale posted on Instagram.

“Super honored @honeymoon joined us on stage at Institution today! Truly a show we’ll never forget!” the band wrote on Instagram.

In a separate Instagram post, band member Dan Grimes explained that Del Rey happened to be walking by as they were playing her song and motioned to see if the band would mind if she came on stage. “Of course we obliged and that is when my head exploded. She was just ‘out getting some ice cream’ she said,” Grimes posted.

Del Rey is an eleven-time Grammy nominated artist and has nine studio albums with her tenth album, Stove, due out next year.
