Lake Cachuma Drowning Victim Identified

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman who drowned in Lake Cachuma on Sunday evening near the Bradbury Dam.
The Coroner’s Bureau confirms the decedent is 30-year-old Sandra Edith Escobar Garcia of Santa Paula. The death does not appear suspicious, according to the Sheriff's Office.

A 30-year-old woman drowned in Lake Cachuma on Sunday evening.
At 5:12 p.m. Santa Barbara County Firefighters, Sheriff's Deputies, a water rescue team, and a helicopter responded to Lake Cachuma near Bradbury Dam for a report of a missing person who was with a group of visitors.
The search was narrowed to the area where the woman was last seen. A county fire captain dove into the water and found the victim in approximately 20 feet of water. The patient was brought to the surface where emergency medical care was given.
The victim was declared dead at the scene. The identity is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

Sep 22, 2020 09:23 AMVery sad. It is so weird to get this kind of information without explanations of how this happened from responders. With the fact that people aren't supposed to swim in there, makes you wonder did she fall off of something and couldn't swim, get trapped under something?
